Events at Katz
The central mission of the Katz Center is to enrich the Mexican studies community at the University of Chicago by sponsoring academic conferences, lectures, and a seminar series. These events serve to advance innovative research on Mexico and foster dialogue between faculty and practitioners from various disciplinary and professional fields.
Recent conference panels and lectures have featured former Mexican president Carlos Salinas de Gortari, human rights advocate Mariclaire Acosta, award-winning journalist Alma Guillermoprieto, political analyst and commentator Lorenzo Meyer, and acclaimed historians John Coatsworth and Claudio Lomnitz.
